In writing my course, Empowered Empath: 21 Days to Emotional Freedom, I’ve decide to construct it as a book, so that others may experience the magical effects of this course independently, without having to commit to taking my course.
This is an excerpt from the Introduction:
The first step in cultivating a peaceful and empowered life is to embrace your spiritual self. You are a spiritual being having a human experience. The late Wayne Dyer said, “Begin to see yourself as a soul with a body rather than a body with a soul.”
The words “spirit” and “soul” are interchangeable in my vocabulary. Your spirit is your life force, whose energetic imprint is entirely unique to you and you alone. Just as your fingerprint is one of a kind, so is your spirit. Your body is a miraculous vehicle through which you get stuff done and experience life on this planet in this particular human incarnation. It temporarily houses your brilliant spirit that is part and parcel of Source Energy, Divine Intelligence, God… use whatever term works best for you.
What is the essence of your spirit? Energy. Everything is energy. Every unit of energy contains information that can be read, felt or sensed by people whose empathic abilities have not been shut down. I believe we are all equipped with empathy at birth, some more than others, much like athletic, artistic or musical tendencies, and it can most definitely be cultivated and nurtured or stymied and eradicated.
Since we are constantly swimming in an energetic field fraught with our own energy, the energy of other people, places and things, we become unaware, much like a fish that is always swimming in water and not realizing he’s wet. This is liberating news.
With the conscious awareness that we are in constant contact and interaction with the energy of others and that there is no escape, we can now become the observers of it, instead of being overwhelmed by it.
We can finally understand that our human bodies are transmitters and receivers of energy and that with this awareness, we can control our responses to it – even direct and transform it. We can fully leverage the energy around us at any given moment, with awareness and practice.
You may be asking how our bodies receive psychic or energetic information. My belief is that we have two forces going on simultaneously. The first is the presence of energy. This is everywhere and inescapable. You are literally swimming in it. Which leads me to the second force of nature: water.
Featured in the film, What the Bleep Do We Know!?, I first learned of Dr. Masaru Emoto and his incredible water experiments. He visually demonstrated through photographs of frozen water crystals that thoughts and feelings affect physical reality. By producing different focused intentions through music, written and spoken words and then presenting it to the previously photographed neutral samples, the water appeared to drastically change its expression.
Guess what? Your body is composed of 75 to 85% water. So, doesn’t it make sense that we are psychic receptors because of our high water content? That’s my theory explaining the physical components of psychic receptivity and empathy, which leads me to what I know for sure: We ALL have psychic senses. Psychic receptivity, awareness of energy, or empathy is not a mysterious super-power exclusive to gypsies and self-proclaimed gurus. With practice, anybody can expand and improve their psychic senses.
If we observe empathy or psychic sensitivity scientifically, it eliminates or reduces the emotional charges that are typically associated with being an empath. This is where liberation becomes possible. Now, we are better able to not take things so personally because most energetic information we pick up doesn’t even belong to us!
With this higher awareness, we can apply the 2nd Agreement of Don Miguel Ruiz and his book of wisdom, The Four Agreements, where he reminds us: “Don’t take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.”
As you become an empowered empath, you begin to let people of the hook of your expectations of them. You become more accepting of the varying levels of spiritual maturity expressed by those around you, realizing that everyone is exactly where they are supposed to be on their own unique spiritual journey.
As the heart-centered person you are, compassion becomes the name of your game instead of hurt feeling, emotional pain and suffering.
Then the real magic happens! As you experience this spiritual liberation, you move into a conscious creativity. You begin to see how your intentions, thoughts, behaviors, words and actions affect the people and energy around you. You feel your power and strength while maintaining your sensitive and caring nature. You begin to take full responsibility for your energetic hygiene and judge others less, while observing more.
Finally, as your practice as an empowered empath continues to expand, you become the change you wish to see in the world. You become the antidote for what used to overwhelm you the most. You learn to project peace, love and healing into the world. You learn to literally change the energetic frequency to what feels better to you, instead of running for cover. This not only heals you, but it spills on to those around you. You become a beneficial presence on the planet and finally begin to utilize your gift of empathy in its highest form.
